William Craig

February 5, 1939 — September 8, 2020

Lee, as he was called by his family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his family, at his home in Grand Junction, Colorado.  He was born in LaJunta, Colorado to Coy and Violet (McGown) Craig at the family home with the family Doctor and his maternal Grandmother, Dana McGown, as his nurse. He grew up and went to school in LaJunta until the family moved to Grand Junction in 1954, where Coy went to work at the AEC facility during the uranium boom.  Lee finished school in Grand Junction and then joined the US Air Force. He was stationed at several different bases in the Pacific area of operation and also bases in the United States. Lee had many friends thru out his life, but none stronger or more meaningful than those he met at the local AA club for the past 46 years. Not only was he helped but became a mentor to many that were struggling with alcoholism and helped turn their lives around. They become lifelong friends. Lee loved to fish and hunt with his family and enjoyed and contributed greatly to the BS around the campfire at night.  Lee was always ready to help as much as he could for anyone that needed, to talk or to be an ear to listen. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter Stacy (Craig) Lutz.  He is survived by his brothers Russell (Elaine) of Parachute, David (Rose) of Cedaredge and his sister Kay (Chuck) Place of Grand Junction. Wife Debbie Craig. Daughters Tammy (Mike) Morrow of Canon City, Laurie (Steven) Allen of Grand Junction, Kristin (Justin) Randolph of Grand Junction, Mackenzie (Tyson) Bieker of Grand Junction, Jessica (Harvey)Gammon of Walsenburg and Tiffaney (Dustin) Hoisington of Fruita. Son Coy (Joanna) of Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina, and Daniel (Melissa) Roletto of US Army South Korea.

Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Lee’s faith and love for God carried him through his life. He took the love God extended to him and shared it with whom ever crossed his path. Every morning Lee would refresh his faith by watching Joel Osteen and Joseph Prince, strengthening his messages of God’s love to others. We passionately believe that this was Lee’s purpose from God.

Rest easy Lee, rest easy.
