Thomas Trujillo

September 27, 1931 — May 4, 2021

My Heavenly Father determined that it was time to take our husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great grandfather home.  We rejoice in the fact he is now in heaven with the Lord and his journey in this world is completed. His journey was a success and he has reached his goal – to be with the Lord forever.

However, while we are happy for him we are sorry for ourselves.  He occupied a special place in our hearts and lives and leaves a vacancy which no one can replace.  But our hope is that all of us will join him in heaven when our time comes.  That was his biggest concern:  That each one of his descendants, his siblings, his loved ones and all his relatives would find the peace that passes all understanding by making Jesus Christ their personal Lord Savior; thus assuring a complete reunion in heaven.  That was his daily prayer.

Tom was born in Grand Junction, CO to Joseph Ben and Grace R. Trujillo on September 27th, 1931, during the Great Depression. He was 89 years old when he went to his heavenly home.  He was the fifth child born to the family. When he was three years old the family moved to Hotchkiss, CO where he attended school.  When he was fifteen, 1946, he left school and went to Waco, Texas, where he got a job with the Dr. Pepper Company.  After two years in Texas, he returned to Hotchkiss.  He spent the next couple of years working a multitude of jobs and then he and his best friends joined the Army.  He served three tours in Korea and a year in Japan before being discharged in 1954 and went to work for the railroad here in Grand Junction, CO.

In August, 1954, he married Alice Ernst in Grand Junction with whom he had three children: Jane Marie Smith, Cheyenne, WY; Jerra Lee Grett, Olathe, Colorado: Jeffrey D. Harrison, LaQuinta, California. He graduated from the University of Denver, June, 1960, with a degree in Accounting and Finance.  He worked for a CPA firm in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.  He and Alice divorced in 1962 and he moved to Los Angeles,  California where he worked for a large CPA firm..He married Gayle Lewis in L.A. And they had two children: Johanna L. Saxton, Salt Lake City, Utah and Nick D. Trujillo, Annadale, Virginia.  Tom and Gayle divorced in 1970 and he moved back to Grand Junction in 1973.

In 1977 he married Sylvia S. Brown and together they raised her two children, Cory and Teresa (Tesa).  Cory died in 2001 and Tesa and her husband, Micheal Martinez, live in Grand Junction with their children: Chase, Monica, Renee and Gabriel.

In 1987 Tom began serving the Christian Community by publishing The Western Colorado Christian Business Directory and in 1994 began publishing The Testimony, a Christian newspaper.  He published the newspaper for 13 years and the business directory for 21 year.  He then retired and ministered to everyone he could until the Lord took him home.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  three sisters, two brothers. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sylvia, his brother John Steven of Mesa, Arizona, five children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He loved his family and showed it in every way possible.  He will be missed until we join him again.
