Richard B. Hemmer, October 10, 1942 – July 15, 2021.
Richard B. Hemmer of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away at home with his family by his side on July 15, 2021, at the age of 78. Richard was born in Syracuse, New York, on October 10, 1942, to Alice Ann Fowler and Alfred Joseph Hemmer. He has been a resident of Grand Junction for over 50 years, where he has faithfully attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He greatly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and reading His word daily.
Richard especially enjoyed the outdoors and hiking throughout western Colorado and Utah. He was a skilled mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician, welder and loved restoring old tools, tractors and collecting blacksmithing pieces. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Remembered and loved by his family, Richard is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Christine (Docker) Hemmer, daughter Jessica Callow, son Joseph Hemmer, four grandchildren (Jude, Ella, and Liam Hemmer, and Parker Callow), two brothers: Tony and John (Kathleen) Hemmer, three sisters Dolores Kernan, Veronica (Thomas) Frontera, and Maria Brown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents (Alfred Hemmer and Alice (Fowler) Hemmer), sister Nancy Hemmer and brother Fritz Hemmer.
A special thanks to the hospice staff at Hope West and our Special Angel, Tawnya. A memorial service is being held at the Clifton Bible Chapel in Clifton, Colorado, on Saturday, July 24th at 11 am, officiated by his son Joseph Hemmer.
