Marianne Collier

May 15, 1962 — January 27, 2023

Marianne Leah Collier age 60 died January 27th 2023 following a long brave fight with a debilitating illness lasting many years.

Born May 15, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Charles Bill Hughes and Betty Louise McDonald (Hughes).

Marianne attended South High School and The Barbizon School of Modeling, both in Denver Colorado.

She was employed as a dance instructor in her early years and then took up bookkeeping. She continued to do bookkeeping for several years as a contractor after leaving the workforce.

Her systemic Masto cytosis was discovered before her midlife and she continued to bravely fight this illness throughout her life.

Marianne enjoyed dancing (especially county two step), dining out, crafts, painting, games and entertaining. Caring for her daughter, LeeAnne, and LeeAnne’s friends, many of whom called her “Mom”, was one of her great joys. She was dedicated to her mother and the many pets she had over the years.

Marianne was friendly, getting along with nearly everyone and sharing her Christian faith when the opportunity arose. Many of her numerous and wonderful caregivers remember her as witty and having the ability to take her trials in stride.

Marianne was preceded in death by her mother Betty McDonald, her father C. Bill Hughes, her brother Jack Hughes, her husband of 15 years Robert Collier and her stillborn daughter Carrie Elizabeth Hughes.

She is survived by her Daughter LeeAnne Marie Hughes, Clifton CO, her brother Gene (Rhonda) Hughes Grand Junction, CO, and two sisters Deb Hughes and Bonnie (Tony) Lang, Denver, CO as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life and memorial service will be held Saturday February 25th 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Rock Church (The Church on the Rock) at 2170 Broadway (in the Redlands), Grand Junction Colorado. A reception will follow.
