Kathleen Doran

November 28, 1932 — February 20, 2021

Kathleen G. McGinn was born in Queens, New York on November 28, 1932.  Kathleen enjoyed her childhood with her parents, siblings and extended family beginning a foundation of love of family, cooking, and a lot of play in and around beaches!  Kathleen enjoyed the city and was quite fond of fashion!

Kathleen married the man of her dreams, John Joseph Doran (Jack) on February 19, 1955.  They would raise and grow their family primarily in Miller Place, New York.  They relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1978.  Jack passed unexpectedly in April 1982, forever leaving a void in Kathleen’s heart.

Kathleen went on to work at L. Cook Jewelry in downtown G.J.  She was employed with Herberger’s in G.J. and became a favorite ‘purse saleswoman’.  Kathleen volunteered at Community Hospital for several years as well.

Kathleen loved to travel to Ireland, cruises, and various trips to New York to spend time with family, loved ones and of course the beach.  Kathleen resided in Cedaredge, CO for a few years where she enjoyed spending the last years with her Mother, Mildred McGinn.

Kathleen was famous for her Sunday dinners, the best sour cream coffee cake, shrimp scampi and Irish Soda Bread!  She was a great seamstress and we lost count of how many Easter dresses and matching coats, with covered buttons she made!

Kathleen is survived by her children John and Kate Doran; Richard and Jean Doran (James Doran and Leah) (Kelly Jean and Chris Papazoros, baby Ella Wren) and Danny Doran; Diane and John White (Elizabeth Grace Watkins Brookmeyer and William, sons Leif and Iver) Joan Dorrance and Matt; (Jason, Thomas, and Jack); Teesha Grisham (Alexis Grisham).  Kathleen is survived by many, many lifelong friends!  Kathleen will be fondly remembered for her famous New York accent, honesty and sassy personality as well as telling it like it is!

Kathleen has one surviving sister Mildred Blake, Greenville, NY.
