James Robert (Bob) Wilson, 95 Grand Junction, Colorado
Bob "slipped the surly bonds of earth" on October 13, 2020, in Grand Junction, CO.
Born in Yampa, Colorado on August 1, 1925 to Sarah Gertrude(Gertie) and James C. Wilson. He went to school in Grand Junction, Colorado prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and thus began his love of flying and airplanes. During this time he also attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
He and Lucille (Frazzini) Wilson were married in 1947 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and had two children, Jim and Linda. Bob began his career in the Life Insurance business with Equitable Life Insurance and eight years later became the Branch Manager of Occidental Life Insurance in Denver, Colorado, a position which he held for 25 years.
In 1974 he and Lucille moved to Briggsdale, Colorado where they owned and operated Wilson Livestock Supply. He said they were always proud to offer "the best service on the prairie". He also was proud to serve on the board of the Farmer's National Bank in Ault, Colorado.
Bob and Zelda Hardt married on July 23, 1985 in Grand Junction, CO and then he began a lifelong dream of owning and flying his own airplane. He bought and refurbished a 1948 Stinson Stationair. He was a member of many flying clubs and was happiest flying and showing his plane at antique airplane
Survivors are his children Linda Shoeneman (Dave Thompson) of Bokeelia, Florida and "Jim ", James Robert Wilson, Jr. of Casper, Wyoming. Also surviving are his Grand Children and Great Grandchildren:
Dallas (Angie) Shoeneman and children Marshall and Mason of Melbourne, Florida and Joe (Tera) Shoeneman and children Abigail and Desiree Shoeneman of Hico, Texas.
Bob is also survived by his sister Irma Hoffman of Montrose, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Nieslanik.
Bob will be buried at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. Military Services will be announced in the summer of 2021.
