Duane Nailor

May 10, 1951 — June 20, 2020

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, his parents are Lorna and Richard “Dick” Nailor (both deceased). At age 5 1/2 , Duane and the family moved to Colorado Springs.
Duane came to GJRC on 8/26/2002, residing on Porter Center (Oak dorm). He was moved to Grand Mesa West (used to be the Infirmary) 2004, Meyer North 2010, and Meyer South 2015. He was on hospice while residing at Meyer West until his final days of life.

Duane enjoys journaling and geography (maps, atlas’, etc.). He is outgoing with a great sense of humor. Duane loved the book ‘The Wind and the Willows’ as well as learning about Greek Mythology/Gods and Goddesses, working on coloring pages, and watching the history channel. He looked forward to going on van rides and out to his favorite restaurants.

He enjoy the company of others and interacting with staff. He had the best smile and mischievous grin.

I love his great ideas he had for Halloween costumes (Colonel Sanders). I love his use of the words “ma’m and sir,” and his ability to be so polite. He would ask the best questions and I loved hearing about the art he would do at Angelo’s and see the color he chose to paint his nails. My favorite memory of him is when he came up to the RAC movie night and we watched Frozen… he was singing “Let it Go” at the top of his lungs! (Amber Mabrey)

Duane will be missed by all, there is no other like Duane. God Bless You!
