Donald Kerven

June 16, 1954 — December 4, 2020

Donald (Don) Richard Kerven, 66, passed away peacefully from cancer in his home on December 4, 2020. Don was born June 18,1954 in Alliance, Ohio and later moved to Littleton, Colorado with his family. He attended Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colorado, then continued his education, completing several degrees, including Water and Wastewater Engineering.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Rhonda and father, Charles (Chuck). He is survived by his mother, Shirley, his siblings, Sallie, Nancy, and Rob, his children, Brian, Andrea, Grant, and Melissa, seven grandchildren, and his companion, Diane.

Throughout his eclectic career, Don served as Deputy Marshall for the Empire, Colorado Police Department, a wastewater engineer for multiple Colorado municipalities, and as Head of Maintenance (popularly known as Czar) for the Museum of Western Colorado, from which he retired after more than 20 years in 2019.

Don enjoyed sharing his talents and hobbies of carpentry, creativity, auto mechanics, and the know-how to fix just about anything. He reveled in maintaining the Museum’s robotic dinosaurs and watching visitors of all ages in awe as they visited the exhibits. Maximizing a lifetime hobby, Don used his innate talent as a carpenter to create wood crafts and aspen wood vases, many of which he sold to gift stores nationally.

A date will be announced in the spring for a tribute, wherein loved ones and friends can gather to share stories, laugh, and commemorate Don’s life. Please check back or leave a message on this site to let us know you would like to be contacted for details.

We will deeply miss his loving, compassionate, strong, tougher-than-nails personality and brotherly friendship for the rest of our lives. We, as a family, are comforted in our hearts that Don is resting at peace.
