David Atkins

September 13, 1950 — January 10, 2021

David Wayne Atkins was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He lived a full and happy life surrounded by the people he cared most about.

David was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on September 13, 1950 and passed away in his home on January 10,2021 at the age of 70 years old.

He was the oldest son of the late Willis (Bill) and the late Mary Margret Atkins. He is survived by his son John Wayne Atkins, brother Paul Leon (Tina) Atkins and Sister Wilma Ruth (Bob) Price, Neice Spring Dawn Charlson,  Nephew Andrew Robert William Price, Nephew Hamilton J Atkins, Neice Shelby Lynn Atkins and Great Nephew Corbin Riley Charlson.

David identified proudly as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He actively served in the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Clifton Colorado. Many knew him for his volunteering work in the public preaching ministry, Local Design Committee (LDC) as Safety Instructor, and for his wild sense of humor. He genuinely enjoyed helping others.

David fondly remembered his early education at the Ballou School on the Native American Cherokee Reservation in Oklahoma. He traveled with the family to International , District and Circuit assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses; often working with Food services, Security, the parking department and participated in the Bible Damas on the assembly programs.

His spiritual career was full of dedication and sacrifice. He served in the Brooklyn and Wallkill branches of Bethel as a young man. His secular career was as a Master Finnish Carpenter for over 50 years. His hobbies included building historically accurate model trains, Railroad Memorabilia and he also loved gardening. He was known for his vast knowledge rocks and minerals. David loved traveling and going on adventures. He has traveled all over the world and loved nature. Some of Johns favorite memories of his father were exploring the Colorado Mountains. Because he had an extensive memory of historical events and family events, he loved to discuss history.

David Married Nanette Atkins in Claremore OK and they became parents to John in 1983. John lovingly remembers his father .

His strong conviction in the Bibles promise of a resurrection has been a comfort to many in his family. We look forward to the day when God will wipe all tears from our eyes and death will be no more. Revelation 21:3,4

It was Davids wish that memorial contributions be made to JW.ORG to support the World Wide Bible Education and Disaster Relief work that he loved and supported during his life.
