Charles Gregory

Charles “Chuck” E. Gregory Jr. passed away unexpectedly at work on October 4, 2021, in Olathe, Co. He was born on April 3, 1961, in Montrose, Colorado.

Chuck was the youngest of four children born to Charles E. “Ed” and Annie Gregory.

In August 1983 Chuck joined the U.S Navy where he was a member of the Construction Battalion also known as the Sea Bees. He retired as a Senior Chief in 2003.

On October 28, 1985, while stationed in Monterey, CA, he met and married Cynthia “Cindy” Shaffer. Of this union two daughters were born. Cindy had a son Brandon from a previous marriage that Chuck welcomed into his life and loved as his own.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife Cindy of Grand Junction, CO, son Brandon Gregory of Florida, daughter Amanda Gregory, daughter Kara (husband Matt) Ferguson of Grand Junction, brothers Arthur (wife Ronda) Gregory of Hotchkiss, Victor Gregory of Grand Junction, sister Anita “Li” Clark of Grand Junction, 8 grandchildren (Casey Gregory, Tori, Vanessa, Rylin Scott, Fen Breininger, Noah and Melody Ferguson) numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

Chuck attended elementary schools in Uravan, Montrose and Norwood Colorado. He graduated from Nucla High School in 1980. After graduating he went to work for TCI in Grand Junction until he enlisted in the Navy in 1983. He went to boot camp in Great Lakes, IL. Chuck served in the Navy for 20 years and then returned home to CO in 2005. where he spent the next several years working in different Health Care and Assisted Living Organizations as a Building Maintenance Supervisor. He worked at Hill Top Community Care Center from 2006 until 2017. After leaving Hill Top he assumed the same position at Cappella of Grand Junction. In 2019 Chuck left Cappella and took a temporary position at the Lodge in Grand Junction prior to moving to Florida. After 3 months in Florida and at the insistence of Cindy they returned to Grand Junction where they were meant to be. Upon his return to Grand Junction, he accepted a job at Colorow Care Center in Olathe where he worked until his passing.

Chuck was a friend to many! He liked to portray himself as a very serious and stern individual. He intimidated a lot of people with his gruff exterior and his often-harsh comments, but if you wanted to see the real Chuck, you only needed to put him in the presence of children, the elderly or the handicapped. That is when his true colors came out and you could see the gentle, loving, compassionate man that he truly was.

Chuck was a man who loved his family and was always willing to lend a hand to others. The absence of his presence will be missed by many.
