Charles Cummings

July 16, 1954 — February 17, 2021

Charles Douglas Cummings, age 66, died of Liver Failure on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021, in his home in Fruita, Colorado.

Charles is survived by his sister Margaret “Peggy” Thompson

and his sons, Evan Cummings, of Hotchkiss, CO, and his son, Colin Cummings, of Grand Junction, CO.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Patricia R Cress, of Fruita, CO; his Brother, Harry “Fuzzy” Cummings, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and his Brother, George “Tom” Cummings, of Fruita, CO.

Charles was born on July 16, 1954 in Denver, Colorado to parents Harry Cummings and Patricia R Atkinson.  He married Pamela Dianne Curtiss on June 16, 1975 and the couple had 2 children together.  His work included years of roofing houses, eventually owning his own roofing business, and also contract work involving commercial door installation.

Charles had a great love for his family and was a loving father, son and brother.  He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Working on Cars, and Coin Collecting.  His family and friends will always remember him as a caring and thoughtful person with a big heart.

A funeral is scheduled for March 13th, 2021, at his son Colin Cummings’ house with a reception to follow. Friends and family will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charles’ life. The family would like to thank his sister Peggy Thompson, Holly and Mike Reynolds, and all of Charles’ friends and neighbors for their support and love for Charles throughout his life.  Charles wanted to be cremated and have his ashes, along with those of his Brother Tom, Brother Fuzzy, and Mother Patricia, disbursed over each side of the Continental Divide, as a tribute to his life in both Eastern and Western Colorado.
