Barbara Christianson

April 25, 1949 — May 2, 2022

Barbara Christianson at the age of 73 passed away surrounded by her family.  Words cannot express the void she has left behind.  Her love for her family and friends was unconditional.  Her kids were her life and her absolute dedication without hesitation.

Barbara “Barb” was born on April 25, 1949 to Lynette and Arville Johnson in Akron, OH where they lived until into her teenage years.  In 1965 with her parents, her brother JR, and sister Carol they began a new adventure in Phoenix, AZ.

It was in Phoenix that Barb met the love of her life, O. Kent Christianson.  They married in 1972, and had 3 children.  Together they started a family and moved to Colorado.  Originally settling in Grand Junction and then later moving to Eagle where they spent many years.  Barb missed very little of her kids growing up attending every ball game, and choir concert.

The later years of living in Eagle they owned a bar and motel.  The bar called “Kickers” was a hit for locals and Barb made sure to have live bands with every opportunity, not only did it bring in the customers it gave her the opportunity to do what she loved, singing with the bands.  She was a very passionate singer and loved to sing.  The crowd favorite was “THE HOUSE OF THE RISIING SUN” which she was always asked to sing.  Barb also enjoyed playing the guitar.

Barbara was a bookkeeper on paper, but her passion was a Fire fighter.  She was a volunteer Fire Fighter for 10 years with the Eagle Fire Department.  Before leaving the Fire department Barb was promoted to assistant Fire Chief.  The Fire Department was her second family.

Barb and Kent retired in Grand Junction CO where they spent the rest of their lives.  She was a caregiver for their oldest, Mary until she passed in 2017.

She will be missed dearly by all of her friends and family.

Barbara was proceeded in death by both her parents, husband Kent, and her daughter Mary.  She is survived by siblings JR  (Barbara) Johnson of Arizona, Carol Laberee of Florida, children Michael (Jill) Christianson of Rifle CO, Michelle (Brian) Christianson of Grand Junction CO 3 grandchildren: Austin, Jordyn and Amy (Lucas) Christianson.
