Bill Niles had a great day. On June 15, 2026 at age 78, Bill enjoyed Monday with Carol and one of his ten grandchildren. He used the day to serve those around him, enjoyed a good bowl of ice cream with blueberries, and settled down for an evening with the Rockies. In the top of the 8th, Bill enjoyed a 3-run homer to left field; and in the next moment he beheld his God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Bill had a great day.
Born October 26, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa the second of nine children, William Russell Niles was the son of William Oliver and Evelyn (Shockey) Niles. He graduated from Dows High School and Tarkio College and spent a year in New Zealand. He married the love of his life, Carol Ann Kiefer, on June 19, 1971; this week was their 55th anniversary. Bill and Carol have three sons and daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Bill sold Hondas for Fuoco Motor Company for almost 30 years. He enjoyed the Broncos and the Rockies. He adored living in the mountains of Colorado. He loved raising sons and adored his grandchildren. And he loved to make others laugh. If he hadn’t made someone laugh then the day wasn’t complete.
However, Bill’s passion was Jesus Christ. He trusted his Savior for the complete removal of his sin in November 1979. His life and his eternity were forever transformed. Bill loved to share with others about Jesus and this Good News. He loved worshipping with his friends at Redlands Community Church and served as an elder for many years. He was passionate about world missions and spreading the gospel. In his free time, Bill loved to study the Bible, was learning Greek, and has written several commentaries over the years – his personal reflections from a lifetime of studying the Scripture and his goal for retirement.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, and five siblings-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff & Angie Niles (Welton, IA), Drew & Christina Niles (Honolulu, HI), and Dan & Nardia Niles (Anaheim, CA); seven grandsons and three granddaughters: Joshua (Ariel), Michael (Kaci), Abigail, David, and Anna; Luke, Liam, and Lila; Elisha and Ezra; one great-granddaughter: Keziah; eight siblings and their spouses.
His memorial service will be June 24, 2026 at 10am, Redlands Community Church (2327 Broadway, Grand Junction). A private family service will be held in the mountains at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made for world missions to Redlands Community Church or to your organization of choice.
