Emblem

William S Killgore age 89, went home to be with the Lord on June the 8th 2024. He suffered many health issues but ultimately died of kidney failure.

Bill was born February 4th, 1935, in Oakland California. He attended 3 years of college with a major focus in Humanities at DU, Denver, Colorado.

Bill worked in almost every job and in almost every state you can imagine. His father was transferred with his work, frequently, so Bill lived in many states. He would see something on T.V. and he would say "I did that when I lived in Chicago"!

He was in hospital administration for many years but when they asked him to transfer to New Mexico he opted to stay in Grand Junction where there were more opportunities to do the things he loved to do like mountain bike, ski, hunt, fish and golf.

He was also in the insurance business for many years.

Bill was a veteran of the US branch of the Army and the Marines. He served in the Marines two years and then transferred to the Army in 1955. He was stationed at Fort Carson Colorado and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Bill loved people and could talk forever to anyone he knew or didn't know.

He was a member of the Grand Junction Lions club and was Lion of the year in 2003. He was also on the National Ski Patrol for more than 25 years, skiing at Loveland, A. Basin, and Powderhorn.

The most loved membership that he belonged to was the Men's Bible study group that meets every Wednesday morning at 6:00 AM.  He was the one that read the Jesus Calling Devotional to those in attendance.  He was broken hearted to have missed the last few when he became too ill to attend.

Bill is preceded death by in his father Frank Norman Kilgore, and his mother Florence Service Killgore.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne Ballard Killgore. son Greg Killgore (Dee). Keith Killgore, and Rebecca Killgore Achord (Greg). Stepsons Brett Ace Ballard (Jennifer), Derek Ballard, and Brady Ballard (Betsy) and younger Brother Jim Killgore (Barb)

Grand Children: Ace Weston Ballard, Kelsey Ballard Cordova (joe). Anna Killgore Jones (Eric) Jonathan Kilgore, Chase Ballard, Tiffany Mcintyre, Lysander, Adam Killgore (Aly) and Shane Achord.

In addition to the service at Fellowship Church, there will be a Veterans ceremony at the VA cemetery on July 23rd @ 10:00 AM.

Please consider making a memorial contribution in Bills name to Hope West Hospice of Grand Junction.
