William Edwards

August 15, 1938 — December 12, 2014

William Raymond Edwards, age 76, of Grand Junction, CO passed away at his residence on Friday December 12, 2014.

Born August 15, 1938 in Denver, CO, he was son of the late Claude and Frieda Evelyn Edwards.  Following graduation from High School, he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy.  Bill proudly served his country while stationed in Barbers Point Beach Hawaii and was privileged to be stationed there when Hawaii became a state.

He married the love of his life, Linda Kay Borts July 6, 1966 in Denver.  Together they raised three children.

Bill loved baseball and was active with the youth baseball league.  He served as umpire and coach.  He was instrumental in the building the baseball field in Fraser, CO

Prior to his retirement, Bill had been employed in property management and maintenance most of his working life.

As a devout Christian Bill loved the Lord and had always been active in church.  He was a hard worker who was devoted to his family.  He was a good friend to many and was always willing to help in any way he could, especially with his handy man skills.

Among his many talents, he was a wonderful candy maker who would share his recipies willingly.

Besides his wife, Linda, Bill is survived by his son, Michael Edwards, of Grand Junction, two daughters, Maureen (Chris) Rucker of Pflugerville, TX and Kathryn Edwards of Grand Junction, CO,  two autistic grandsons, Johnathon and Christopher Rucker.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics, AutismAwareness.com or the charity of your choice.
