Vernon Russell Roark
Vern Roark died at his home on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2017, due to physical complications. He was born on June 26, 1955, in Del Norte, Colorado, to homer and Winona Roark.
Vern is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Evan; stepson John Bigger; 2 sisters, JoAnn Roark and Jane Stubbs; 2 nephews, Vince Prentice and Wayne Topliss, 1 great nephew, Jason Boesch; and 4 grandchildren.
He was raised in ranching environments in Colorado and Utah. The family moved to the Grand Valley when he was a small boy. He attended Grand Valley School in Parachute, and Central High School in Grand Junction. When he was 17, he joined the Navy and served our country for 6 years. He was married briefly during those times.
During his life in Grand Junction, he married Linda Barry in 1987, gaining a stepdaughter, Stephanie. They had a son, Evan. They parted in 1995. He found love again and married Barbara Bigger. They remained married until his death.
Among his many interests, Vern enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing his guitar and riding his Harley. He was an active member of the local Eagles Aerie No. 595. Vern loved his many friends and family and adored his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at the Eagles Aerie at 1674 Highway 50, Grand Junction, CO. It is requested to send flowers to The Eagles.
