Thomas Lee Freeman was born in Kokomo, Indiana on 18 June 1934 to Benjamin Franklin Freeman and Annabelle Marie (Gunnell) Freeman. He died 26 June 2025 at Larchwood Inns in Grand Junction, Colorado. Tom graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1956 and proudly served 20 years, retiring in 1976. He saw much of the world and served during the Vietnam war, at one time as the commander of the minesweeper, USS Phoebe.

Tom served as both a police officer and detective for the Grand Junction Police Department from 1978 to 1989 and as a substitute teacher for Plateau Valley School District 50. He also volunteered as an Investigations Aide for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Tom and his wife, Marjorie, owned a home in Bull Basin at the foot of the Grand Mesa for over 40 years and loved watching the deer and wild turkeys on their land.

Tom has five surviving children from three marriages: Kim, Alyson, Tom Jr., Bryan and Loie Sue, and two stepdaughters, Jacki and Vicki.
