Thomas Bustos

June 13, 1950 — October 27, 2022

Thomas Eugene Bustos was born on June 13, 1950 He was one of seven children born to Pete and Sally Bustos. Tom was born in Leadville, Colorado and attended Battle Mountain High School where he graduated in 1968.  He was a star athlete and very much liked by all his classmates.  After high school he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in Texas.  After his honorable discharge Tom returned to the Vail Valley where he worked for Gallegos Masonry for many years and became one of their top masons.

Tom enjoyed playing softball for the Booze Brothers in his early years, he loved to dance and was one heck of a good cook. He was an avid Broncos fan and enjoyed riding his bike around town.  His favorite job of all time was being the best “Papo” to his three grandsons and the best dad to his one and only daughter Tomasita.

Tom was a fun outgoing person and had a lot of friends.  He was a hardworking man, a great provider and everything he did in life was for his family.  He was the type of person that would give you his shirt off his back.  His unwavering love and devotion to all that were around him will be forever missed. His daughter loved him so much and all that were close to them knew they were two peas in a pod!

Tom lost his battle to many health issues on October 27, 2022.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Lindy Martinez, Uncle John Madrid, his babe Carol, his stepdaughter Ranae Gallegos.  He is survived by his one and only beautiful daughter Tomasita Bustos, his stepdaughter April (David) Heredia, his grandkids, Marcus, Dante, Emilio, Sarah, Diego, Daniel Gallegos and Khandi Vargas.  Brothers Mike (Kathy) Bustos, Dave (Dana) Bustos, sisters Jo Ann (Bob) Rivera, Rosella (Oney) Montoya and Elaine Woodhead and many nieces and nephews.

A church service is TBD.  The date and time will be shared as soon as it is determined.
