Terry Durfee

June 28, 1953 — August 31, 2022

Terry Eyre Durfee (28 Jun 1953 – 31 Aug 2022)

Terry Eyre Durfee, ‘Durf’, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, after a short valiant struggle with a sudden illness.

Terry was born June 28, 1953, to Cyril Moroni and Enid Lue Durfee in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Grantsville, Utah…a Durfee that lived on Durfee Street. He was the fourth of six children, the second-born, ‘abused’ twin of fraternal twins. Terry always said he remembered being in the womb and lovingly recalled his twin sister pushing him around to make more room for herself. He was educated in Grantsville schools and served in the US Air Force (‘81-’85) as a Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) specialist. His Federal Service included several years in Thule, Greenland, the top of the world, and ended at Tooele Army Depot.

Terry's life was full of passion for precision electronics and home chemistry, being a child of the Fifties and very proud of being self-educated. He enjoyed being an Uncle to his many nephews and nieces, that he cherished. He loved all wildlife and hunting, but later in life he could not harm a bird. A severe accident in 1998 severely curtailed his abilities to follow his bliss.

Terry was a quiet and reserved individual who cherished relationships with others. He was known for being a loyal friend to many. He had an unwavering faith in God, but seldom discussed it with others.

He is survived by a sister-in-law and his four sisters, Renee Durfee (née Smith) of Payson, Arizona, Marge Durfee, Sherry and Sheldon Stephens, and Esther and Hector Zamora of Cedar City, Utah, and Tammy and John Andersen of Loma, Colorado, where he lived for the past 21 years; plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Cy and Enid Durfee of Grantsville, Utah and a brother, Milo Ray Durfee of Payson, Arizona.

Special thanks to cardiac care ward at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Lower Valley Fire Department that valiantly attended to Terry in his final moments.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 8, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM, at the Redlands Community Center, 2463 Broadway, Grand Junction, CO 81507 (https://redlandscommunitycenter.org/).
