Teddee Mae Martin

Aug. 26, 1951 – Sept. 5, 2026

The passing of our beloved Mother has left us in shock and disbelief. She was the light in every room she entered with her infectious smile and warmth that drew people to her. She never met a stranger and had a heart that made everyone feel welcome.

Born to Richard and Edythe Swain, she was raised in Grand Junction and graduated from Grand Junction High School. She married her love, Curtis G. Martin Jr. in 1969, and spent the next fifty-four years together until his passing in 2023. 

Teddee was a wonderful Mother. Funny, caring, and deeply loving. She devoted herself to raising her family and didn’t return to work until her son was 8 years old. She then chose a career with the school district that allowed her to have the same schedule as her kids. She loved her cafeteria job and spent more than 30 years there before retiring. She had a great sense of humor and loved little joys like when we teased her by singing the lunch lady song. It perfectly fit her playful side.

Teddee loved her many friends and especially her PEO sisterhood where she was a proud member of Chapter DY for 42 years. The connections she made through PEO clearly mattered to her, and she was overjoyed to be a speaker at their state convention this year.

Our Mother loved shopping, little did we know how much until we began cleaning out her apartment. She was a clotheshorse and would dress for every holiday, and occasion that arose. Bags and bags and bags and bags of clothing and purses have been donated.

Our Mother was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. She is survived by her brother Rick (Sara) Swain and her kids- Eric (Brandi) Martin, and Shonna (Tim) Potts. 

Teddee leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and friendship. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth, humor and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
