Shirley Faye Myers passed into the hands of our Lord on November 19, 2024, with her family present. She was born at home on May 20, 1935, in Delta, Colorado to Henry and Tennessee Bowers.
In June 1953, Shirley married Avon Myers of Eckert, Colorado. They were blessed with three daughters, Theresa (Murl) Seeley, Jeanette (Bobby) Mayer and Donna(Steve) Barden.
Shirley was a bookkeeper for Anderson Furniture, an administrative assistant at MDS, plus other businesses for many years. She played the piano and organ for church most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedaredge. She was also a member of the Rose Garden Club in Cedaredge.
Avon and Shirley loved to camp and rock hunt in their off times. They purchased property on the Cedaredge side of Grand Mesa where they spent a large share of their retirement years with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends at their beloved “Cow Camp”, homesteaded by Avon’s grandparents Charlie and Nora Buzzard in 1920. Camping, four wheelers and fishing were part of the fun they shared at the “Cow Camp”.
Shirley is survived by her children, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, and son-in-law Murl Seeley. All of her family and friends will miss her dearly.
A family celebration will be held next summer. Donations may be made to Hope West, Strive or a charity of your choice.
