Sheila was born in Montrose, CO to George and Virginia Balderston. She has three older siblings, Doug, Cindy and Pam. She started riding horses at a very young age and became an accomplished horse woman who bred and trained Tennessee Walking horses. Sheila met her husband, Ed in 1990 at Bailey's on Horizon Dr and they were married about 5 years later in Honolulu. She had one son, Chris Sorrells (Kari) by a previous marriage and two beautiful grand daughters, Ashlyn and Ally. Sheila sort of followed in her Dad's footsteps and went to nursing school in Yuma, AZ (Dad was a well known doctor around Montrose and Telluride and took out his own appendix). She worked at some point at all three hospitals in Grand Junction as well as for a local well known general surgeon for 16 years. Sheila and Ed volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the RSVP Handyman Project. They were fortunate to be able to travel early on to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Tahiti, and China. Sheila's favorite place was the cabin her Dad built near Ouray. Sheila loved horses and all critters. She worked as a vet tech for a while and rehabbed and released many birds. Sheila was 69 and died from complications of early onset Alzheimer's she'd had for about 15 years. Services to be announced in a few months. Maybe a short service at the VA cemetery and scatter some ashes at the cabin late spring or early summer. Sheila isn't a veteran but Ed is.
