Shawn Daniel Williamson started his life on January 31, 1965, born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado. He enjoyed childhood as a big brother, and graduated from Grand Junction High School. Shawn became fluent in multiple languages while enlisted in the Air Force, serving as a translator during the Gulf War. After his military service, Shawn earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1995 he married Marie Massengill and they settled in Clearfield, Utah where he worked in juvenile & adult probation. In 2011 they welcomed their miracle daughter Berlin, and the family soon moved to Sitka, Alaska. Like any Grand Junction native, Shawn ended up returning to the Grand Valley in 2014 and began a new career in mental health. He earned his Master's Degree in 2010 and opened Grand Valley Counseling. He also served as the Clinical Director of the Counseling & Education Center. Shawn is known for his wit and humor, his joy of riding motorcycles, and for being a dedicated fan of Star Wars & Star Trek. Shawn beamed back up to the Starship Enterprise on September 28, 2025 after a sudden illness, and will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Berlin, mother Pamela Larson, siblings Shane (Maspida), Todd and Melissa, and many more. He was proceeded in death by his father, Donald Dean Williamson.
A full military honors service will take place at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The Cemetery is located at 2830 Riverside Pkwy, Grand Junction, CO 81501. Followed by a Reception at Crossroads United Methodist Church, located at 599 30 Rd, Grand Junction, CO.
