Sarah Leigh Gerber

December 6, 1939 — June 3, 2025

Sarah Leigh Gerber, 85, passed away peacefully, with her children by her side, on June 3,2025, in Grand Junction, Colorado.

She was born in Bay, Arkansas, attended school in South Bend, Indiana, and was a long-time resident of Grafton, Wisconsin. For the past 15 years, she resided in East Point, Georgia, near her son and his family.

Sarah led a life defined by generosity, dedication, and quiet strength. Over the years, she embraced many roles—mother, friend, business manager, and bookkeeper—but she will be most remembered for the deep love she gave to her family and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.

She loved reading and had a true gift for gardening, nurturing both plants and people with equal care. Those who knew Sarah will remember her as someone who gave selflessly, loved deeply, and always found time to tend to the things—and people—she cherished most.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Miquette Gerber, and son-in-law, Ron Petersen, of Grand Junction, Colorado; her son, Stuart Gerber, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gerber; her beloved grandchildren, Ezra and Lily Gerber, all of East Point, Georgia; her sister, Shelby Higgins of Mishawaka, Indiana; and her former husband, Thomas Gerber of Jonesboro, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Kirby Mae Bright (née Womack); father, Darrell Underwood; and older brother, Don Underwood.

Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Sarah’s memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation at https://www.gbmresearch.org/donate, supporting research toward a cure for this devastating disease
