IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sammy E.
Moncrief
March 2, 1951 – February 14, 2026
Sam Moncrief passed peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. Sam was born March 2, 1951 and raised by Deloris and Lawrence Stieb. Sam was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He had lifelong friendships that are a testament to the man he was. Sam had the best sense of humor and truly loved to make people laugh. He spent his working life doing many different things, but his passions were cooking and art. He even opened his own restaurant, The Whistle Stop, in Fort Morgan. He painted many beautiful paintings for his family and friends through the years. Sam is survived by his daughters, Michaela Kelly (Kyle Kelly) and Amanda Davis, as well as his son, Richard Hansen. The light of his life was his grandchildren, Carter and Trent Sessum and Ava and Emma Johnston. Sam is preceded in death by his mother, Deloris, his brothers, Lawrence, Mark, Joe, Tony and James. He was married twice and was preceded in death by both wives, Peggy Moncrief and Sue Moncrief. Please join us for a celebration of Sam’s life on his birthday, Monday, March 2, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Long’s Park.
