Robert Gary “Kritz” Wilson

August 18, 1943 – July 12, 2022

Robert Gary “Kritz” Wilson, age 78, died peacefully July 12, 2022 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Bob, as his family knew him, was born in Sacramento, California. He would later move to Santa Cruz, with his sister, to live with their grandmother above the beach at Pleasure Point. He went to high school at Santa Cruz High, was an avid surfer, and would later become captain of the lifeguards with an office in a boat on the Santa Cruz Wharf.

Bob graduated from San Francisco State University, in 1963, with a BA in Radio-Television Communications. In 1968, he relocated to Aspen, CO where he managed several ski shops and coached skiers professionally. He then moved to Arizona in 1983, returned to Santa Cruz for a couple of years, and then returned to Aspen when a friend offered him a job managing a home decor store. Most recently, he had been living in Palisade, CO and later Grand Junction, CO.

Bob was outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He was always cracking jokes. He also had a passion for photography. A prized photo of his, which was made into a poster, was of skiers and a chair lift at the 1971 U.S. Nationals at Aspen Highlands.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Ethel Volz and Wilburt William Wilson of Sacramento and his older brother Burt John Wilson of Binghamton, NY. He is survived by his son, Wyatt Weston Wilson, of Hotchkiss, CO; granddaughter Annie Sage Wilson, of Hotchkiss, CO; sister Gail Wilson-Smith of Richmond, CA; and nephew Steven Ashley Wilson, of Fremont, CA.

NO services will be held. Please consider making a memorial contribution, in Bob’s name, to a charitable organization of your choice.
