Robert Lee Lightfoot

January 29, 1952 — October 14, 2023

On October 14th, 2023, our dearest Robin died peacefully at Colorow Care Center, Olathe, CO after 13 years living with chronic illnesses. He was 71. All his closest family had shared their love and goodbyes with his clear recognition of their presence. His care from Colorow Care staff and Delta County Hope West Hospice was exceptional.

He was the son of Bill and Alice Faukner Lightfoot, last living in Boone County MO. Born in FL he lived in many states growing up with his family. He lived in Columbia MO area for many years where he met his wife, Anne. But he loved living in Colorado the best, where they shared a love of adventure in exploring the West and all its natural beauty for the last 22 years of his life.

His passions in life were creative woodworking and fly fishing. Learning carpentry from his father he expanded his talents into a career. Having an engineer’s mind, he knew how to repair or create whatever was needed and thrived on hard work. Anne called him “Master of the physical world…” He loved fishing in the Gold Medal trout waters of the Gunnison River, CO, and the Current River, MO. Being in the wild and interacting with the wilderness was his sacred spiritual source. Reading literature was his other passion, finding much solace in the writings of great minds. His library of books was precious to him, Global native cultures fascinated and intrigued him, discovering the ways we as people relate to each other and the Earth. His deep connection with any animal was easily noticeable. He was most drawn to Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, and Jazz music but his love of music included eclectic styles.

Robin was known for his personable, humble, and kind character full of a dry wit that took one off guard. He made Anne laugh every day. Further, he would always go an extra mile for a friend, or sometimes even a stranger. He had a great compassion for the homeless and those in need. He relished time with his family. He derived great joy from his son, stepdaughter and their families. He adored his granddaughters growing up and loved to engage them on their level.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anne Schmidt, of Cedaredge, CO, his son, Jeffery Lightfoot (Heather Wilkinson), Columbia, MO, his stepdaughter, Emily Keen Brandt (David) and their children, Stella and Lila, of Gilbert AZ. His brother, Eddie Lightfoot, preceded him in death. His younger sister, Patty, resides in MO. Robin will also be missed by his Schmidt family in-laws, nieces, nephew, and their families.

Memorial contributions, if desired, would be appreciated to Colorow Care Center, 885 Hwy. 50, Business Loop, Olathe, CO 81425, or HopeWest, PO Box 24 Delta CO 81416.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
