Dick Keeler passed away on April 12, 2026, in Grand Junction. Dick was born in West Orange, New Jersey on May 31, 1937, to Ford and Thelma Keeler. He graduated from Montclair (New Jersey) High School in 1955. Dick attended Nichols College in Dudley Massachusetts where he was a standout baseball and football player. After college Dick was a member of the Army National Guard. In 1958, Dick followed in his father’s footsteps and began his career in the insurance business. In 1961, he met Jane Blumenthal, and they were married in 1962. In 1963, their son, Ford, was born. After their divorce he remarried in 1969 to Joan Van Decker. In 1970, they had a daughter, Kimberly. In 1971, Dick began a career in the real estate business. By recommendation of his high school friend and classmate, James Robb, Dick moved his family to Grand Junction in 1976. Dick continued his real estate business in Grand Junction and was one of the founding partners of the Grand Junction Athletic Club in 1978. Dick was an avid runner, biker, and golfer over the years. He loved to “compete” athletically and enjoyed playing in golf tournaments for many years. Dick completed four 26.2-mile marathons in the 1980’s. He also enjoyed biking up the monument with his son Ford and grandson Ryan. He loved watching the Rockies and Broncos on television. Over the years, Dick was a member of both St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and Monument Presbyterian Church. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dale. He is survived by his wife Joan, his son Ford (Kelle), daughter Kim (Steve), grandsons: Ryan (Melissa), Spencer, and Travis, granddaughter Rachael, and great granddaughter Kinley. A private family service will be held at a later date.
