Obituary

Ray Gordillo Esparza, 84, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family. 

Born on August 16, 1941, in Benson, Arizona, Ray was the beloved son of Pete and Ramona Esparza. He graduated from Pueblo High School in Tucson, Arizona, and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. 

Following his military service, Ray built a successful career in the laundry industry, working as a Sales Representative for Tingue, Brown for 27 years before retiring in 2008. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to those he served and worked alongside. 

A faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ray's life was guided by his deep belief in God and his commitment to helping others. He was a thoughtful, selfless man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Whether offering encouragement, sharing wisdom, or simply brightening someone's day with a joke, Ray had a remarkable ability to make people feel valued and loved. 

Those who knew Ray will remember his infectious sense of humor, outgoing personality, and genuine kindness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. An avid and talented golfer, he found happiness on the golf course and cherished the friendships he made along the way. 

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ramona Esparza, and his brother, Peter Esparza. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kelly Esparza; his sons, Levi (Amanda) Esparza of Loveland, Colorado, Ray Jr. (Denise) Esparza of Stockton, California, and Martin Esparza of Stockton, California; his daughter, Diana Esparza of Stockton, California; his siblings, Hope (John) Saltzberry of Tucson, Arizona, and John (Val) Esparza of Stockton, California; and his cherished grandchildren, Shiloh, Jordan, Jacob, Colton, and Ashley. 

Ray's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his humor, generosity, faith, and unwavering love for family. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service honoring Ray's life will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80236.
