Peter Garry
Tullio
March 19, 1948 – March 26, 2026
Peter “Garry” Tullio, lovingly known as “Doc,” was born on March 19, 1948, to Pete and Shirley Tullio. He passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026.
Garry grew up in Somerset, Colorado, and graduated from Paonia High School in 1966. He went on to attend college in Pueblo, Colorado, where he studied Auto Mechanics — a field that became both his passion and his lifelong work.
On June 27, 1967, Garry married the love of his life, Jeanetta Joyce Tullio. Together, they built a wonderful life filled with hard work, laughter, and countless adventures.
Garry is survived by his devoted wife Joyce, his sons Robert Tullio (Kathy) and Garry Tullio (Christine), his siblings Richard Tullio (Jeanna) and Aloha Tullio, and his grandchildren — Travis, Thomas, Brian Tullio, and Hudson Greenwald. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kathleen, Hannah, and Riley Tullio, and Hunter and Hannah Thompson. Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Shirley Tullio, and his grandson, Charles Tullio.
Garry and Joyce began their journey together in Montrose, Colorado, where Garry worked at Ron Gibson Ford, pre-delivering new cars — thanks to a helping hand from his Uncle Frank Tullio. From that moment, Garry was in his element. His career took him from Ford to heavy equipment work at Wagner Equipment, to hands-on days at the family dairy farm, and ultimately to the Colorado Department of Transportation, where he proudly retired after many years of dedicated service.
Beyond his career, Garry was happiest outdoors — hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring the deserts and high plains in search of remnants of ancient Native American civilizations. A skilled craftsman, he found great satisfaction in building and creating — from DIY projects around the house to crafting intricate wood carvings and miniature works such as lighthouses and winter lodges. His hands were rarely still, and his mind was always working on the next project.
Garry was also a proud and faithful member of the Sacred Heart Church, where he found comfort, strength, and community throughout his life.
Garry will be remembered as a kind, happy soul who lived life surrounded by family and friends. He found joy in simple moments: fishing trips with his eldest son, listening to his youngest play music around town, and lending a hand to anyone in need — often refusing payment, simply doing it out of kindness.
Garry touched many lives with his generosity, humor, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest easy, Garry. You’ve more than earned your peace.
