Patti Teresa Brewington

Patti Teresa Brewington, age 71, died May 25, 2025 following a brief illness. Patti was born on July 18, 1953 in Blythe, California, the firstborn daughter of Cledis L. Abernathy, Sr. and the late Helen L. Abernathy.

Patti grew up in Vidalia, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Vidalia High School and went on to graduate from Beautician School. While she kept that skill, she found her way into the office setting and eventually bookkeeping. She worked for QED Surveying for many years until her passing.

Patti lived her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and made her dedication on August 29, 1970. She served faithfully for nearly 55 years and was an inspiration to many with her uplifting spirit. She was proud to share her vast knowledge of the bible with those she would meet.

In 1980, she married Alfred Brewington and moved to the Grand Valley. It was here that she and Al created the life she had hoped for that included their son Jason and daughter Amber.

Patti loved to read, crochet, play games, hike, dance, and travel. Above those things she loved to spend time with her friends and especially her family. She set a wonderful example of being a great daughter, sister, wife, mother and her very favorite thing of all was being a “Yaya”.

A good way to describe Patti is fun loving and playful. She loved to laugh, had a truly hilarious sense of humor, and a smile that could light up any room. She was known by so many for her hospitality because of her love of showing visitors the beauty that surrounds us. Patti wore many hats, but to her family she was lovingly referred to as “The Boss”.

Patti was preceded in death by her mother Helen L. Abernathy and her brother Sonny Abernathy.

Patti is survived by her husband, Alfred Brewington, her son Jason (Angela) Brewington, her daughter Amber (Travis) Ricord, her father Cledis (Shirley) Abernathy, her sisters Melodye Johnston and Traci (Dexter) Hutchins, and her brother Cy (Tracy) Abernathy. Her Yaya years brought her five beautiful grandchildren, Sydni (Kyle), Ivy, Cloey, Stella, and Marley. She had several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews that she held dear. Last but not least, she was blessed with so many lifelong friendships that filled her life with such joy.
