Obituary

Patty (Patricia) Sutton Vernon was born on April 9, 1949 in Juneau, Alaska to John and Doris

Sutton. Her family, including her brother, John, ended up in Ouray, Colorado where her father built their house in the outskirts of town.

Patty was a single mom to three children. She moved to Montrose, Colorado where her kids went to school. She was the executive secretary of the Montrose County Commissioners for several years. When she moved to Delta, she worked collections for DMEA and restored her first Victorian house to its original condition. Her creativity, expertise and genius came through again with her next project, a much larger Victorian home in Grand Junction. Her love of furniture restoration, beautiful homes, gardening and house plants was her gift, among so much more. The houses she restored showcased her knowledge, attention to detail and creativity. She put her heart and soul into everything she did.

After leading such an active life, Patty was stricken with metastatic breast cancer at the young age of 76. She fought it bravely for a year before it took her life on May 19, 2026, at age 77.

She is survived by her children and grandsons: Nina (Trent) Norman and grandsons, Ansel and Sabin; Jeremy (Cherie) Sutton and grandsons, Tyler, Beckham and Findlay; Aaron (Liz) Vernon and grandsons, Shawn, Zachary and great grandson, Jason, as well as numerous cousins and relatives in Texas and California and other areas in the US.
