Myrtle Blecha

Myrtle Lee Blecha July 27, 1926 – October 24, 2016 Myrtle Lee (Lusk) Blecha, age 90, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed peacefully to her rest on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Mantey Heights Care Center. She was born July 27, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Wallace and Maudie (Lodge) Lusk. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1948 and married Byron Blecha in 1949, working beside him as a pastor’s wife for 40 years. They moved to the Western Slope in 1978.

Myrtle was an active member of Palisade Seventh-day Adventist Church and a faithful volunteer at the Seventh-day Adventist Community Service Center. She loved to cook for her family and for the many guests hosted in her home, to play the piano, and to sew. She will be remembered as a devoted Christian who gave selflessly to those around her.

Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Byron, who passed away in August of this year. Also preceded in death by parents, sister Alida Nelson, and brother Glenn Lusk. Myrtle is survived by her youngest sister, Lenoa “Lee” Fink of Lincoln, NE; by daughters, Arlene Hagensicker of Overland Park, KS and Marilyn (Jeff) Emery of Niles, MI; son Edmund (Diane) Blecha of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Shasta (Greg) Nelson of San Francisco, CA, Kerry (Mike) Pate of Tampa, FL, Travis Hagensicker of Overland Park, KS, Tiffany Blecha of Grand Junction, CO, Katrina (Jesse) Emery of Portland, OR, Dustin (Autumn) Blecha of Grand Junction, CO; great-grandchildren, Naomi and Myles Pate, Bryson Blecha, and Edda Emery.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home, 904 N 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501. A reception will follow the service. Memorial contributions can be made in Myrtle’s name to the Seventh-day Adventist Community Service Center, 2554 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505 or to Hospice at Hope West, 3090 N 12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
