He than transferred to the Denver Distribution Center for 7 years, overseeing finances of veteran prosthetics. He was an active member of Redlands Community Church for 15 years, Riverside Baptist Church in Denver for 7 years, and Heritage Church in Grand Junction for 16 years. After retiring, Milton led Crown Financial Bible studies, helping people budget their finances according to biblical principles. During his lifetime, Milton competed in many sports and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate. In later years, Milton enjoyed Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jonathan. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Chris (Amy) Packard; daughter, Connie (Tom) Cogburn; brother, Vern Packard; sisters, Violet (Dr. Bill) Troup and Twila (Stuart) Stierwalt; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. The family thanks HopeWest Hospice for their exceptional care and extends a special thank-you to the dedicated and loving staff at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center. Because of the loss of one eye in childhood, Milton could not serve in the armed forces. Yet he considered his career a way to help veterans.
