Michael Brown

November 17, 1959 — May 12, 2022

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, MICHAEL ERNEST BROWN, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the HopeWest Hospice Center.

Mike was born in Bartlesville, OK on November 17, 1959 and after moving around a LOT in early childhood, spent the majority of his growing up years in Vail, CO.  He spent the majority of his adult years right here in Mesa County.  He is the son of Ernie and JO Brown of Vail, both of whom preceded Mike in death.

Mike is a kind, loving, gentle man who loved animals and the elderly.  He was a great care-giver to his father, Ernie, in the last 4 years of  his life and grew to know and love so many of the residents living at his dad’s Assisted Living Community, Cappella of Grand Junction.  The residents and employees at Cappella always knew they could depend on Mike to offer a kind word or lend a helping hand.  Mike was roommate and helping hand to his sister Barbara at their home in Fruita where he tended cats, dogs, chickens, geese and any other critter Barbara might decide to house.

Mike is survived by daughters Tosha Brown Dixon and Desiree Brown Himes both of Mesa County and his son Michael Brown (Whitney) of Crofton, MD; his grandchildren Louis and Isabella Grasso of Grand Junction, Lane and Emree Jo Himes of Loma, and Chloe JO and Gavin Brown of Crofton, MD; sisters Cathy Manchee, Elaine Turnbull and Barbara Schumacher; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country!  He was well loved and will be greatly missed.

There will be a small family service in the Vail Valley later this summer.
