Merlo Haynes Woolsey

at the age of 79

Survived by sons Jeffrey and Patrick; his brother Eric (and family), and sister Christine (and family); One daughter-in-law and two grandkids Ryder and Brindley.

Graduated from Escalante High in Escalante, Utah.

After high school, he did odd jobs until he enlisted in the Army. He served from 1968 to 1969. During his service, he met Kathy while in Wisconsin. In 1970, they eloped and moved back to Escalante, Utah. Merlo started working on the oil rigs. Then in 1972, he went to work for Tenneco Oil Company pumping oil wells. He pumped wells for 18 years and moved twice, ending up in Fruita, Colorado.

In 1974 Merlo and Kathy welcomed the birth of their first son, Jeffrey Woolsey. Four years later, they welcomed the birth of their second son, Patrick.

He then spent the rest of the time teaching them how to hunt, fish, trap, and shoot.

He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed talking to everyone. He was liked and loved by all. He was dedicated to his family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy, of 51 years.

A memorial service will be held

at a later date in the spring of 2027
