Maxine Leone (Elledge) Klaich died November 29, 2023, in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was born November 25, 1934, in Denver Colorado, to William and Nelle (Eyerly) Elledge. Her older brother Bob is deceased, and her younger brother Sid lives in Mesa, Arizona. Maxine’s early years were in the Denver area until moving to Grand County where she attended and graduated from Middle Park High School.
She married Fred Klaich on June 2, 1957. They lived in Buena Vista, Frisco, and Dumont before moving to Grand Junction in 1965. Fred died in 1986. The couple had two sons, Michael (Loretta) and Mitchell (Sheri) and five grandchildren, Christopher, Gwendolyn, Sarah, Christian, and Chloe.
Maxine lived a full and active life making friends wherever she went. She was a dedicated homemaker and helped run the family apple orchard. After Fred’s death she moved to Fruita where she lived until her passing. Her love for the Gospel and her amazing ability to teach led her to serve two 18-month missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in New Zealand and England. Maxine also served in various community, scouting, and church leadership positions, leaving everyone a little better than when she found them.
