It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Sweet Morrison, 94, of Grand Junction, CO who went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2024. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life reflected an unwavering love for Christ, her family, and all those fortunate enough to know her.
Born on January 3, 1930, in Albuquerque NM to Clarence and Ruth Sweet, Mary was raised with a strong faith that guided her every step. She was a lifelong Christian whose relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of everything she did. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived—through her kindness, her unshakable optimism, and her deep compassion for others.
Mary married the love of her life, Glenn, June 1, 1956 in Farmington NM and together they shared a beautiful life, raising 4 children who were the pride and joy of their hearts. She was a loving and selfless mother who taught her children the values of faith, integrity, and the importance of family. Mary’s life revolved around Church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School into her late 80’s. Mary’s heart was filled with warmth, kindness and laughter and she created a legacy of love that will carry on through the generations.
A true lover of life and the outdoors, Mary had a special fondness for horses. Even into her 90’s, Mary expressed wishes to ride again. Another facet to Mary’s life was her ability to make fast friends. 45 years of Avoning and teaching allowed her to develop deep friendships with a multitude of women. She had the ability to connect with anyone, and she cherished her many friendships over the vast years.
Mary is survived by her husband Glenn Morrison, son Neil Morrison (Susan), daughter Lalene Cox (Steve), son Kevin Morrison (Rochelle) and daughter Eileen Turner (Scott); her grandchildren Kimberly Morrison (Jake) Tyler Morrison(Kara) Kassandra Turner and Preston Turner and one great grandchild Kate.
Mary’s legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her heart for Christ, her family, and her friends was evident in every part of her life. While we will miss her deeply, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved so much.
