Mary Ruth Lucas

Mary Ruth Lucas, age 79 died May 29, 2025, following a long illness fighting with congestive heart failure and arthritis.

Born November 11, 1945, in Shenandoah, IA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes Lang.

Mary graduated from Lafayette High School in Lafayette, CO.

Mary has been a self-employed bookkeeper since 1984. Her first job out of high school was as a telephone operator. Her most memorable call completed was to the White House. Mary was a proud and loyal member of the Gideon Auxiliary since 2007 where she held both local and state offices. She was also a faithful member of Fruita Faith Baptist Church since 1998 where she was the treasurer for 20 years and also served as a Sunday School teacher, AWANA and Truth Tracker leader.

She enjoyed doing leather work, crocheting, fishing, working with her plants, watching rodeo, especially bull riding (PBR) and barrel racing. She was also a fan of the Denver Broncos.

She was friendly, outgoing, loyal, and always ornery. She was dedicated to her family, loved the Lord. She hated lying. She was honest and had a good sense of humor.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Agnes Lang, siblings Bob (Judy) Lang, Dale Lang, and her identical twin sister Martha (Jim) Lang, and grandsons Justin Carvo and Nel Lucas.

Mary is survived by her husband Lew Lucas, Ruth (fiancé Scott Tirrill) Lucas, Paul (Jess) Lucas, “stepchildren” Jim Lucas and Alice (Rick) Carvo and “adopted son” Carl (Nicole) Anderson. Also, she is survived by her grandchildren Ryan (Sierra) Carvo, Lynzie Lucas, Abigal Lucas, Cody Cass, Kiera Anderson, Kaylee Anderson, Kara Rendon, and Leah (Kyle) Howell.

Celebration of Life will be June 29, 2025, at 4pm at Fruita Faith Baptist Church, 180 S Elm St Fruita CO 81521.
