Mary Ellen Kuhlman

Mary Ellen Kuhlman age 79 passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2023 in Grand Junction, CO following a long illness.

She was born August 4, 1944 at St Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH and was the daughter of Carl and Anna Marie Kuhlman.  She graduated from high school in Glandorf, OH and went on to College where she earned her bachelors degree from Mary Manse College in Toledo, OH and  her Master's degree in Social Work from St Louis University in St Louis, MO.

Mary was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where she achieved the rank of Captain.

She had been employed as a social worker in healthcare and in the legal system for 4 decades.  She was an advocate for the elderly and those who needed a voice.

Mary Ellen was a member of St Joseph's Church in Grand Junction.  She was also a talented pianist and enjoyed collecting antiques and Western Art.  She thoroughly enjoyed swimming, tennis and golf but especially loved her dogs;  particularly her Collie named Captain.

We will miss her independent and outgoing personality, her humor and her kindness to those in need.

Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Anna Marie, sister Sharon Kuhlman, brother James Kuhlman and nephew Jaime de la Torre.

She is survived by sisters: Shirley Reuba of Paradise Valley, AZ, Jane de la Torre of Madrid, Spain and Sandra Radwanski of Columbus, OH and 6 nieces and nephews.

A Veterans Honors Service will take place September 22, 2023 1:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO.
