Marilyn Pearson, 90, of Grand Junction, Colorado, died peacefully on September 24, 2017, following a brief battle with cancer. Marilyn was born and in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on May 16, 1927. She was the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Marshall. She graduated from Meyers High School in 1945.
On November 26, 1948, Marilyn married her wonderful husband Clarence Pearson. They shared 38 happy years together before his death in 1987. Marilyn and Clarence lived in Washington, DC, Salina, Kansas, and Denver, before moving to Grand Junction in 1975. Marilyn worked in the medical field for much of her career, most recently in the Respiratory Department at St. Mary's Hospital.
Marilyn was an active member at American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed many outings with the Seniors group she helped to organize there. She loved to travel, and visited Europe and the Holy Lands several times. Whether it was in a trailer, a motorhome, or a 5th-wheel, camping was another favorite activity Marilyn shared with Clarence, and later with her good friend Ring. Marilyn was a talented seamstress who shared her skills and love of design with the Quilters group at ALC. She loved the challenge and patience required to create intricate counted cross-stitch pictures for her own home or as gifts to others. She loved music and had a rich alto voice, singing in choirs at her churches and with Grand Mesa Chorus Sweet Adelines.
Family was important to Marilyn. She shared a very loving, supportive relationship with her daughter Beth, who passed away in 2010. Marilyn is survived by her sister-in-law and very dear friend Helen Miller; her son Jeff and his wife Cindy; son-in-law Richard Bohanon; her grandchildren Chris Milucky, Jenny (Milucky) and Jimmy Satterwhite, Katherine (Pearson) and Mike Wilson, Daniel Pearson, and Eric Pearson; as well several nieces and nephews. Marilyn also had many wonderful friends who were extremely important to her and who filled her life with joy.
Love for the Lord, love of family and friends, music, beauty, and service to others were the hallmarks of Marilyn's life. She was always active in her church and shared her time generously wherever she saw a need.
A memorial service and celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 3:00 pm on October 21, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3133 F Road in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope West Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, (HopeWestCO.org) or to American Lutheran Church, (631 26 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, CO, 81506.)
