Lukas “Luke” Miley August 26, 1980 – July 20, 2026

Lukas Miley, known to everyone who loved him as Luke, passed away on July 20, 2026, at 45 years old. He left behind a wife and a community of bros who will forever be grateful for the time they shared with him.

Luke grew up in Denver and went on to study at the University of Colorado. He put down roots in Grand Junction, where he built a life full of the things he loved most: music, open skies, and good company. It was there he met the love of his life, Jessica, and the two were married on October 13, 2018.

Luke was the kind of person who made a room feel warmer just by walking into it. He could talk about anything and everything, and he made sure the conversation included everyone. No one was a stranger for long around Luke. He had a wide circle of friends spanning all phases of his life, and once you knew him, you knew him for life.

Music was one of his favorite things. He was a connoisseur — always discovering new artists, sharing songs with friends, and showing up to concerts. If there was a great song, Luke had already heard it.

A natural athlete, Luke was an arborist, comfortable at the top of a tree in a way most people never are, and brought that same ease and confidence to everything he did outdoors. He and Jessica shared a love for adventure and a willingness to say yes, whether that was hiking and mountain biking near their home, running miles on the trails, swimming with whale sharks in Mexico, or finding their happy place in Hawaii.

He was creative too, happiest when he had something to build, fix, or figure out. Luke brought that same all-in energy to everything he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica; his mother, Jane, and father, Stephen; his brother, Andrew, and sister-in-law, Sara; and his nephew, Nolan, and nieces, Olive and Luna.

A celebration of Luke's life will be held on Sunday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Lounge & Terrace near the Meyer Ballroom at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. Wear bright colors, a race shirt, or anything that reminds you of Luke. There is no need to wear black. It will be exactly what Luke loved most: people together, sharing stories.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward a living memorial are welcome. Native tree seedlings will be planted in Colorado's National Forests in Luke's honor.
