Louis Fredrick Achierno

Louis Fredrick "Fred" Achierno was born October 22, 1944, in Dever, Colorado to Louie and Julia Achierno. He was an only child. Fred died in hospice care at Hopewest, September 13,2025, after dealing with dementia for several years. His family had been with him about 24 hours prior to his death.

After attending Adams State College from 1962-1966, Fred took a teaching position in Ignacio, Colorado where he taught secondary English and Business. He acquired a Master's degree in counseling from Adams State College to put that degree to work at the elementary school in Ignacio for several years. However, his heart was in the classroom setting so he returned to that until he retired after 37 dedicated years to education in Ignacio.

In 2004, Fred and family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. He became the irrigation director of their HOA and was dedicated to their housing area. Fred, Corby and son, Jeffrey loved their home and neighborhood. Corby is still in the house they bought. Fred was a member of the Elk's Club and enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, card games and dancing. It was during a dance class where he met his future wife, Corby Borrelli.

Fred us survived by his wife of 44 years, Corby of Grand Junction, Colorado, daughter Alicia, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and son, Jeffrey of San Carlos, California. 

A memorial service will take place in Ignacio, CO at a later date.
