Lindsay Rae Hamilton never forgot anyone she met and if you were lucky enough to have met her, she was simply unforgettable.
Lindsay passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 39.
The girl with a twinkle in her eye, an enthusiastic wave, and an eager invitation for you to meet her mom and dad, her dog, brother and all her people. Lindsay spent her life educating us. She was the professor of perspective and our attitude and approach coach. She was that teacher that was so adept at what she did that you didn’t even realize how much you were learning from her. Lindsay’s lesson plan was simple and she understood the assignment of being human; include everyone, have compassion, laugh when something’s funny, adore your dog, be a magnet for connection. She didn’t just encourage connection when she walked in a room with her people, she insisted on it, regardless of setting or circumstance.
Her lessons were for all who welcomed them and even those initially hesitant to her teachings. She was a whisperer of wisdom in words uniquely her own, her “Lindsay Language.” She smoothed the rough edges off her students, sparked joy in those who thought they had lost it and had the ability to compel people to pause in a crazy world long enough to look at photos of a special girl’s dog. Imagine a life where purity of spirit carried the day, no jealousy, no ego, no mean thoughts. An occasional mischievous raid on the pantry her biggest misdeed. Imagine having the courage of conviction to name your second dog the same as your first (Baby Grr). That was Lindsay.
Lindsay was born in Parker, Colorado, on September 11, 1985, to Jerry and Kelli Hamilton. She lived in Parker with her parents and younger brother Taylor until 1998 when the family moved to Grand Junction. Lindsay took to the Grand Junction community and learned to ride a bike, go skiing, sing in a choir, volunteer in a grocery store, and “play ball” with her friends in Challenger Baseball. Lindsay attended Fruita Monument High School, always a friendly and familiar face in the hallway. Lindsay loved country music, a good party, funny glasses, and a crowded table full of a laughing family.
She was her mom’s shotgun rider, royalty to her dad, and her light was a direct reflection of the love and care Jerry and Kelli showered on her.
Lindsay’s family remains steadfast in honoring and sharing her lessons: Brother, Taylor Hamilton and fiancé Mandy Spurgeon, grandmother, Shirley Webb, grandfather, Darrell Hamilton, uncle Jamie Hamilton; aunts Wendi Webb, Jodi Webb, Robin Hamilton, Anne Denecke; cousins Sarah Hamilton & family, Dane Hamilton & family, Steffon Hobbs & Lillian Cherry….and Grr.
We will gather at a yet to be determined date in celebration of Lindsay and to hear the lessons she taught you. Until then, share the twinkle in your eye and if you’ve lost it, look for it again, Lindsay taught us that.
