Linda was born May 24th, 1956, in North Platte Nebraska. She grew up in Nebraska with her parents John and Lily and little brother Frankie. She was surrounded by Uncles, Aunts and 10 cousins. Linda moved to Grand Junction, Colorado with her parents at the age of 12. She attended Grand Junction High School and graduated from there in 1974. On August 27, 1981, she married the love of her life Jack Messenger. They had three children: William, Michael, and Sarah. Jack and Linda shared 43 years of love together. During that time, she held many jobs her favorite being a mother to her three wonderful blessings William, Michael, and Sarah. Linda’s love for children did not stop at just her own but extended to many through the years. From countless godchildren to her children’s friends and all the school kids at Messiah where she spent 30+ years serving the Lord with her time and talents. She worked as janitor for Messiah Lutheran School for many years and then moved to cleaning the Church which she poured her heart into as it was her way to serve her Lord. She always said it was her quiet time with God when cleaning the sanctuary. Even though she was working she was always ready to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on or run an errand for a friend. Linda was always excited at the opportunity to substitute in the preschool classroom where all the kids loved and cherished her. She retired from cleaning in 2022 but continued to help in the preschool classroom.
When she was not working Linda spent her time with her children and grandchildren, family was the second most important thing to her behind God. She loved to plant flowers, herbs, and plants in the spring. In the fall she would she enjoyed canning tomatoes from her garden, palisade peaches, and making jams and salsa. She enjoyed quiet mornings drinking coffee listening to the birds and peaceful evenings on her swing. She loved watching the sunrise in the quiet of morning before the world would wake. Linda was always happy and smiling and appreciated the little things in life. Even on a bad day, she could find a reason to laugh. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and friend. She was a true blessing, heavenly sent.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lily Nickles, her little brother Frankie, and her grandparents John and Mary Beran, and Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Linda is survived by her husband Jack, children William and daughter in law Ashley, Michael and Sarah and her grandchildren Afton, Elijah, Donavon, Dylan, Oliver, and Scarlett.
