Obituary

Lary Wayne Scarbrough was born in Oklahoma and was raised in Amarillo, Texas, where he attended Tascosa High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Corey Giddens. They later made their home in Denver, Colorado.

Throughout his life, Lary’s work took him across a variety of career paths, including working for the tire industry, driving for RTD, running an office-cleaning company, and, after retiring, running his own handyman business.

When he hasn’t working, he had a love for the road, taking his Gold Wing motorcycle with his beloved oversized stuffed Bear, Putney. Sundays, however, were reserved for golf with friends. Summers were spent at Lake Powell with his tire-industry friends. Lake Powell became a special place in Lary’s heart, a place filled with friendship, laughter, sunshine, and memories that will live on.

For the last seven years, Lary called the small town of Palisade, Colorado, home. There, he found joy in the simplicity of life. The Livery was his “Cheers”, where he had his own bar stool, and everyone knew him as “One R Lary”.

Lary is survived by his partner and friend of the last 11 years, Christine Watson; his nephew, Christopher (Jo) Scarbrough; nieces Haley Anders and Jordie Scarbrough, great-niece Mia Scarbrough; and his beloved dog, Darby.

Lary lived his life in his own way, with a good dose of independence. He will be deeply missed by the people who loved him, those who had the blessing of his daily presence, and the many friends he made throughout his life.

Lary and Corey’s ashes will be thoughtfully scattered together over Lake Powell this spring.

“If there is a bar up there ~ save us a seat”

Rest in peace, “One R” Lary
