On October 10, 2023, Kavin Alan Cain a resident of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, passed away peacefully unexpected at the age of 36 while visiting his children in Grand Junction, Co.
Kavin is survived by his two minor Sons, Damion Alan Cain and KC Preston Cain, Parents, Sharon Mangione and Stepfather Vince Mangione, his Siblings, Clayton, Cara and Keysha, many family members, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who love him dearly.
Kavin Alan Cain was born in Fresno, California to Bruce and Sharon on November 8, 1986. Kavin overcame a tough childhood, survived a traumatic car accident at the age of two but there was no holding him down, literally. Kavin learned how to walk in a full body cast. His grandparents always got a kick out of a slogan, “Raisin Cain” (from Kingsburg) and ‘raising cane’ is what Kavin did.
Kavin grew to be a spiritual man who had faith in scriptures. Kavin had a heart that judged no one, an unforgettable presence and always knew how to make the people around him laugh, especially those who knew him most. Despite all his challenges, Kavin's family loved him unconditionally.
Kavin worked in skilled trade jobs, but it wasn't until fishing in Alaska he found his passion. Kavin thrived as a commercial fisherman in Alaska where the elemental conditions of the sea were therapeutic for him. Kavin was very well known to the Alaskan Fishery Industry and was setting to run a crabbing crew this harvest season, but God reeled him to heaven before he could set sail.
Kavin is preceded in death by his Father, Bruce Alan Cain, Great Grandpa Godfrey L. Pettigrew and Grandparents Vernon Leslie Cain Jr. and Carolyn Mae Cain and Alvin Gaetano Tiboni and Wanda Lou Pearlene Tiboni and Auntie Sandra Tiboni-Contreras.
Our family would like to thank all the staff at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for their kindness, compassion, and prayers during this difficult time.
In memory of our beloved Son, Brother, Father, Family member, we share this poem and a scripture:
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea. ~unknown
Joshua 1:9 NIV Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
