Karl Gary Watts

June 30, 1944 — December 16, 2023

Karl Gary Watts was reunited with his maker on December 16th, 2023.  Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arville and Goldie Watts, Karl married his first wife, Rebecca  in 1965 and together they had two sons (Michael and Shawn) and one daughter (Karin) before divorcing.

Karl was known to many in the community as someone who worked hard and played hard.  He enjoyed dancing, strumming on his guitar, playing his flute, and singing. He loved to cook for his family and friends and took a few recipe secrets to the grave with him.  He loved his animals and was known to have a dog (or two) underfoot in the kitchen with him, and he made sure they all “got their bites”.

When not working, Karl enjoyed many outdoor activities and spent his time golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, waterskiing, horseback riding, shooting, riding motorcycles, and even up until the last few months of his life, used his ATV for trail rides in the Uncompahgre Valley and in Moab. He had a knack for photography and enjoyed taking scenic photos while on his adventures.

Karl was passionate about his work and had many friends in the Grand Junction and surrounding areas.  Many of those friends started as clients from his long time business, C.O.P.I (Colorado Office Products, Inc.), he just had a way with people and a smile that put you at ease. Even after the hard decision to sell his business to Capital Business Systems, he remained on with them as an employee and continued to do what he loved.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents (Arville, Goldie and step-mother Violet), his sister (Christi), brother (Richard) and half-sister (Mona).   Karl is survived by his two sons, daughter, beloved granddaughter (Allyson), nieces, nephews and his dog, Packett (who now has a home with a family friend).

There is no service planned at this time, however, his family appreciates those that have reached out with kindness and sympathy after his passing. We welcome you to share your memories or condolences in the guestbook.
