Obituary

                                                                     Karen Joy Kelly October 12, 1955 - May 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Karen Joy Kelly, who left us on May 20, 2026. Karen was a woman with a great sense of humor—sharp, steady, and genuine—and brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Karen was born in Nuremberg, Germany on October 12, 1955. She spent her childhood in Chesterfield, New Jersey before moving to Craig, CO in her early teens. She later made Grand Junction, CO her home. Karen married her high school sweetheart, Lyle Webb and they had two sons, Kyle and Justin. She was a proud Grandma to her six grandchildren and was excited for her first great grandchild on the way. Karen was warm, easygoing, and always thinking about others. She was a western girl at heart who loved the ocean. She was proud of her roots, comfortable in her own skin, and always anticipating the needs of her friends and family. Karen’s heart was drawn to true crime, murder mysteries, and anything involving suspense, clues, and a satisfying conclusion. She loved laughing—especially when she had a good joke ready—and she had a gift for making people feel at ease. When she wasn’t diving into a mystery or sharing a laugh, she was enjoying shopping and looking for great gifts—often finding Christmas-worthy treasures long before anyone needed to start thinking about December. Over the last year, Karen found comfort in knowing God had a path for her, and she faced the future with trust, strength, and grace. She is surely rejoicing with Him in heaven now, pain-free, and surrounded by love. Karen is survived by her husband, Lyle Webb; her sons, Kyle and Justin (Brenda); her grandkids: Gage (Falyn), Bradon (Talitha), Jordan, Jaxon (Sarah), Moriah, and Judah. She is also survived by her parents, Bob (Joyce) Kelly and Jean Payne; her sister, Kathleen (Ramon) and niece Hauna (Kris); and many other beloved relatives and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Shawn, and her nephew, Austin. If there was a mystery to solve, a joke to share, or a bargain to find, Karen was there with a grin and a plan. She knew how to enjoy life in her own unmistakable, witty way, and will be remembered with laughter, gratitude, and love. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Services to celebrate her beautiful spirit, and the love she shared with all of us, will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 1st at Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 395 31 5/8 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81504 . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you offer an extra act of kindness in Karen’s honor today and share a joke and a laugh with a friend. This is not goodbye, it’s see you later.
