Judy NeSmith Colby

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the loss of JUDY NESMITH COLBY. Judy was born in Fort Valley, GA and graduated from Dalton High School in Dalton, GA. She met her husband, Donald, while they both attended Florida State University. She remained a loyal fan of her alma mater, the “Seminoles,” throughout the years. Judy was an excellent musician, singing professionally and teaching music to children while raising her two sons in Florida and then Georgia. Upon retirement, Judy moved to Colorado, fulfilling a lifelong dream of living out West. Judy also loved Maine and made several trips there to visit her son, Glenn, and his family.

Survivors include her husband, Donald “Don” Craig Colby, Sr., of Grand Junction, CO; her son, Donald “Craig” Colby, Jr., of Grand Junction, CO; her son, Glenn Thomas Colby (Barbara) and step-grandson, Berkeley Wanner, all of Southwest Harbor, ME; her sister-in-law, Billie Ruth NeSmith, of Greensboro, NC; her niece, Ginger NeSmith Walton (Steve), of Greensboro, NC; and her cousin, James Gantt Fausett, of Marietta, GA.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Julian James. NeSmith; her mother, Evelyn Fausett NeSmith; her brother, Robert “Bob” Julian NeSmith; and her nephew, Robert “Alan” NeSmith.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Eagle Ridge Post Acute nursing home and HopeWest Hospice as well as Judy’s team of additional medical professionals in Grand Junction, CO for their care and compassion.

Per Judy’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
